What is the certification program?

The certification program helps organizations building connectors to follow Camunda's standards and best practices.

While all connectors in the Marketplace are reviewed by Camunda, certified connectors must meet higher standards. Certified connectors are partner-created, follow our minimum security requirements, and are kept up-to-date between Camunda releases. Camunda consistently scans certified connectors, identifying dependencies and vulnerabilities (CVEs) for the developer of the connector. Browse certified connectors here.

Although participation in the certification process is optional, having certified connectors increases the chances of Camunda customers adopting the connectors. The higher the connector adoption and brand awareness, the more likely Camunda customers will engage with the connector creator for further customization and additional support.

Before submission, ensure a thorough review of the program requirements below. Are you familiar with the program? Skip to the certification request form

Requirements

Before embarking on the certification program, read the following and make sure you can adhere to these requirements:

•   You are an official Camunda partner.

•   Your Connector has already been approved by Camunda Marketplace and must be distributable for both the SaaS and Self-Managed versions.

•   Your Connector needs to be uploaded to the Camunda Community Hub as a source available. This allows Camunda to conduct regular automatic security and vulnerability scans of the code.

•   The Connector must be kept current, maintained between Camunda main releases, and recertified every two releases as per the release policy.

•   The Connector creator must meet the minimum security requirements defined in the Marketplace Security document.

•   The Connector must only use third-party libraries that are open source. No third-party, non-distributable libraries are accepted.

•   By contributing to Camunda Marketplace, the partner is agreeing to the Licensing and Other Legal Terms.

Providing support

For the certification program, maintainers are required to provide support and adequate technical documentation (including a compatibility matrix) for each of their Connectors on Camunda based on their best efforts. For inquiries, users can create an issue in the repo in the Camunda Community Hub.

Any issues specific to the Connector are escalated to the maintainer:

•   The maintainer makes the best effort to answer all support queries escalated from Camunda within seven business days.

•   The maintainer makes the best effort to resolve technical support issues for customers within ten business days.

•   The maintainer must address vulnerabilities found in its Connector following the timeframe defined in the Marketplace Security document upon Camunda creating an issue in the repo to notify the team maintaining the connector.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in temporary or permanent removal of the Marketplace certification or the removal of the Connector from Camunda Marketplace entirely.

Commercial model

Partners have sole discretion to build a commercial model for customization or additional support for their Connectors. However, all Connectors must be available at no cost within Camunda Marketplace and commercial transitions must take place between the customer and the partner, not through Camunda.

FAQ

How can I request the certification of my Connector?

After your connector is submitted an approved, you can request a certification in the request certification form.

Will the certification program be open to individual developers and contributors?

At the launch in H1 2024, only Camunda partners can have their assets certified. Later in the year, we might expand that to individual developers and contributors.

What information do I need to provide to certify my Connector? Is there a checklist and/or template?

Review our Community contributions checklist and the Connector submission form.

If I want to certify a Connector for a third-party solution (e.g. connect Slack using their REST API), can I build it and have it certified?

Yes, as long as the Connector uses third-party libraries that are open-source. No third-party non-distributable libraries are accepted.

Can submit a Connector if a similar certified Connector already exists on the Camunda Marketplace?

While we encourage working together and an open-source community, Camunda will evaluate each Connector individually.

Who can approve and commit changes to the certified connectors?

While we encourage contributions from the Camunda community, any pull requests need to be approved by the team maintaining the project from the Camunda partner. Team members are added/removed from the Camunda Community organization in GitHub by request from the Partner company.
